Access to Work Support for Self‑Employed People

Bookkeeping, accountancy & admin funded through Access to Work

Access to Work is a UK government scheme that can fund practical, ongoing support for disabled people in work.

If you are self‑employed and have a disability, health condition or neurodivergence that makes admin, bookkeeping or organisation difficult, Access to Work may fund the help you need to run your business.

I provide bookkeeping, accountancy and admin services that Access to Work can pay for, and I help you with the application as part of putting that support in place.

All conversations are handled professionally and confidentially, with a focus on practical support rather than labels or diagnoses.

Who this Access to Work support is for

This service is designed specifically for sole traders and freelancers who:

  • are dyslexic, ADHD, autistic, or have another disability or long‑term health condition, and
  • whose condition creates real barriers around admin, paperwork or organisation

What Access to Work can fund for your business

Access to Work can fund ongoing, practical business help where a health condition or disability makes aspects of work more difficult.

Through this service, funding may cover:

  • Bookkeeping, including invoicing and day‑to‑day record keeping
  • Accountancy, including Self‑Assessment
  • Inbox and admin support to help you stay organised and reduce overwhelm
  • Tools and software

I focus on this type of support only. I do not offer Access to Work application help as a standalone service.

Why this approach works well for neurodivergent and disabled people

Many self‑employed people are highly capable at their core work but find that traditional admin systems don’t suit how they think or process information.

This approach works because:

  • Support is practical and ongoing, not a one‑off intervention
  • Tasks are handled consistently, reducing stress around deadlines and paperwork
  • Communication is clear, structured and adapted to what works best for you
  • Support includes regular, predictable contact, so tasks don’t build up
  • The help is funded through Access to Work, so cost isn’t an added pressure

The aim isn’t to change how you work – it’s to remove barriers so you can focus on running your business.

How Access to Work support works

1. Initial conversation
We have a straightforward discussion about your work, the challenges you’re facing, and whether Access to Work is likely to be appropriate.

2. Access to Work application
If it looks suitable, I help you with your Access to Work application. There is no charge for this.
The application focuses on how your condition affects your work and what practical services would help.

3. Assessment and decision
Access to Work may arrange an assessment, usually carried out by an independent assessor.
Following this, Access to Work decides what they can fund and at what level.

4. Support begins
If funding is approved, I provide the agreed bookkeeping, accountancy or admin services.

5. Access to Work pays
If approved, the Access to Work scheme covers the cost – not you.

For common questions about eligibility, assessments and what’s included, see the Access to Work FAQs.

If Access to Work isn’t suitable for you

If Access to Work isn’t appropriate for your situation, or funding isn’t approved, I’ll be open about that.

There is no charge for the application help and no obligation to continue.
